As soon as Kiersti told me their wedding was going to be designed around a vintage carnival theme my idea was flooded with ideas. Her romantic color palette of pale rose pink, tans and ivory with a pale aqua-blue accent inspired me to go with a whimsical design rather than the typical bold carnival look. I wanted this invite to differ from previous carnival themed invites and to still reflect an elegant feel a wedding invitation should have. We added a ferris wheel silhouette on the main invite because Mitch had actually proposed to Kiersti on a ferris wheel. It’s always great to be able to incorporate a couple’s story or personalities into an invitation design. I love that we backed the invite with a beautiful pale rose pink cardstock. It really brought out the colors in the invite and added a slight contrast to the opal white metallic envelope.

Designing Bobbie & Corey’s wedding invitations was so much fun. I love when a client shows up with a vision of what they want and leave it to me to fulfill their vision. The coral and aqua color scheme is one of my favorite combinations right now and I really enjoyed infusing those colors into the suite. I took a slightly different approach to the popular chevron pattern and created a very thin herringbone pattern. Nothing completes a suite better than an address wrap. It gives everyone a little sneak peek of what is inside.

Nick and I have been married a little over a year now and I still find myself constantly looking through our wedding photos and I just realized I never even shared the paper details on my site. I mentioned that we had the amazing opportunity of having our wedding featured on one of my favorite wedding sites, Green Wedding Shoes, but never actually created a post solely dedicated to the details. So here you go!

Early on we decided we wanted the paper details to play a large role in the wedding decor because design is such a huge part of my life. We did our best to make sure no detail was forgotten. Thanks to the fabulous Mikki Platt for capturing every last detail of our wedding so I can relive it any day of the year.

Not very often do I get to do a little idea searching before I meet with my clients. Normally I figure out what look they are after while I’m meeting with them and then give suggestions and then email ideas after our consult. However, with Logan & Mike, I got a heads up from their wedding coordinator, Julie of Middle Aisle, of their colors and theme. Julie mentioned the colors were true red, gray and white. The theme was modern and simple with the decor being mainly gray and white with pops of red. I thought it would be fun to incorporate that same idea and create a gray and white invite with some sort of a red accent. I found a font that was dominant enough it wouldn’t need a pattern to compliment it and presented my idea to Logan & Mike. They liked the idea so off we went with the concept. It’s a little more challenging than I thought it would be to design an invite with different shades of gray and no pattern. I relied heavily on the typography to add enough interest in the design. A favorite detail of mine was the silver envelope liner. Envelope liners add so much to a suite so I always get excited when I get to use them. The red baker’s twine wrapped multiple times around the invite added just the right amount of color.

Taylore & Quinn had a good old fashioned western wedding on a ranch so what better way to give their guests an idea of what was to come than by designing some rustic invites. The kraft envelopes and twine added a natural look to the bold black and red text and patterns. We decided to stick to traditional fonts that fit the theme with a very simple design. Instead of using an address wrap, we went with a custom designed address stamp to match the suite. This larger than normal stamp ended up being my favorite element.

This invitation suite was one of my favorites to design. Josi & Cabe were having a woodsy themed wedding but were incorporating some bright colors rather than neutrals. It was definitely tricky for me to figure out how to incorporate the bright colors but keep the theme. The invites displayed the woodsy themed with a sort of whimsical feel. I created some graphics to help portray the theme and designed a geometric-like pattern that slightly resembled lace. I enjoyed adding different bits of inspiration and combining it into this custom suite.

I’m so excited to finally be able to share this styled shoot for the newest issue of Southern Utah Bride Magazine with you! I always feel so privileged when I’m asked to participate with some of Southern Utah’s most talented vendors in creating a look meant to inspire future brides. Since it was a nature shoot, we decided to create the individual place cards on rocks rather than paper. I made sure to keep the look of the paper details similar to the invitation design. I stuck with the ivory and kraft papers and incorporated major elements from the invite into the details. I absolutely love the way all of the design elements turned out and it was such a neat experience to see everything put together so beautifully. The location was stunning and it just got better as the sun went down.

This suite was designed in collaboration with the styled shoot for the newest Southern Utah Bride Magazine. The current Fall/Winter Issue is the “Nature Issue” so what better way to convey this than by having the featured styled shoot be organically and naturally inspired. I knew I wanted it to have a very handmade appeal but still maintain that wedding elegance. I decided to keep the design minimal with black text, a mixture of ivory and kraft paper, and twine. Adding the olive green RSVP envelope gave it the perfect touch of color. I’ve noticed how custom stamps are a big trend right now so I decided to also incorporate that as an element to the suite. Stamps are nice because not only can it be used for both the invitation and RSVP envelope, it is something you can use once the wedding is over.

I’m all about having details all over the place at weddings and when I find a client that feels the same way I can’t help but be inspired. It’s so much fun to take elements from the invitation and incorporate them into different details. Lacey had so many amazing ideas that these pictures don’t even include all of them. This wedding had it all – personalized succulent place cards, individual menus, directional signs guiding you through the venue, and darling jam favors. What made these details stand out from others was the unique wording that Lacey so cleverly thought of. These details have been and will probably always be a favorite of mine (I know I say this a lot, but I’m allowed to have a lot of favorites). Thanks Gideon Photography for all the great photos.
